Square and Compasses

The Royds Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of England was consecrated on Monday 30th December 1867 by V. W. Bro. John Baker, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire, and entered as number 1204 on the register of the United Grand Lodge of England. The Royds Lodge meets at the Masonic Hall, Malvern, and is in the Masonic Province of Worcestershire.

The Royds Lodge takes its name from Albert Hudson Royds, the Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire from 1866 to 1878. Albert Hudson Royds' youngest son, Edmund Albert Nuttall Royds, was a founder member of the Lodge and invested as our first Junior Warden in 1867.

We welcome visiting Masons and applications from Masons who wish to join the Lodge. We also welcome expressions of interest from those who wish to learn more about Freemasonry in general, or about The Royds Lodge in particular.

Appeal 2011

In 2011, the Anniversary Festival in aid of The Royal Masonic Trust for Boys and Girls will be held in the Province of Worcestershire. The prime objective of the Trust is to support the children of distressed or deceased Freemasons in order to offer them the start in life they would have received had distress not befallen their families.

The 2011 Festival Jewel

At the beginning of June 2006, there were 22 beneficiaries within the Province of Worcestershire. These beneficiaries received assistance due to the death, desertion or disability of a parent, with each category bringing its own unique heartbreak and turmoil. In the previous 12 months alone, a total of over £62,000 was expended by the Trust on its beneficiaries from within the Province. Over the previous 5 years, this support amounted to over £313,000. Help us to contribute towards the success of Appeal 2011. If you would like to make a donation, please click here to download a payment and remittance form.

A Worcestershire Freemason may qualify to become a Festival Steward by making a qualifying donation of at least £100 towards the appeal. Their ladies and sons also qualify to become Festival Stewards on making a minimum donation of £50. Those qualifying as Festival Stewards will be entitled to attend the Festival and dine on paying the dining fee. They will also be entitled to apply for a Festival Jewel, and the Ladies a Festival Brooch. The Festival Jewel, based on the family crest of our Provincial Grand Master and the colours of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, can be worn on all Masonic occasions and in all degrees within the Province.
