Famous Masons

Dr. T. J. Barnardo (1845-1905). Philanthropist, and founder and director of homes for destitute children. His work is continued today by the charity Barnardo's.

Burns, Robert (1759-1796). Scottish poet and lyricist. He was regarded as a pioneer of the Romantic movement and after his death became an important source of inspiration to the founders of liberalism and socialism.

Churchill, Sir Winston L. S. (1874-1965). British politician known chiefly for his leadership during World War II. He served as Prime Minister from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955.

Doyle, Sir Arthur Conan (1859-1930). Author noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally regarded as a major innovation in the field of crime fiction.

Kipling, J. Rudyard (1865-1936). English author and poet, best known for his works The Jungle Book, Just So Stories and Kim. He was the first author writing in the English language to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature and remains its youngest ever recipient.

Sir Leonard Hutton (1916-1990). English cricketer who dominated the national and international cricket scene for the decade following the Second World War. He was honoured with the England team captaincy, breaking an age-old tradition that the position could be held only by an amateur.

Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, RN (1868 - 1912). British Royal Naval officer and explorer who led two expeditions to the Antarctic regions, reaching the South Pole on the 18th January 1912.

Malvern Lodges

Introduction

Three Craft Lodges, a Royal Arch Chapter and a Lodge of Mark Master Masons meet at the Masonic Hall in Great Malvern. Details of these Lodges, including the dates of their meetings and contact information, are shown below.

The Royds Lodge No. 1204

The Royds Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of England was consecrated on Monday 30th December 1867, by V. W. Bro. John Baker, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire.

The Royds Lodge meets eight times each year, on the third Thursday of the month from October to May inclusive. The Ceremony of Installation takes place in May.

The Malvern Hills Lodge No. 6896

The Malvern Hills Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of England was consecrated on Saturday h1th December 1949, by W. Bro. Ben Marsh JP, PGD, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire. The Malvern Hills Lodge is a daughter lodge of The Royds Lodge No. 1204.

The Malvern Hills Lodge meets eight times each year, on the last Saturday of the month from September to April inclusive, with the exception of December when the meeting takes place on the third Saturday. The Ceremony of Installation takes place in September.

The Morgan Lodge No. 9816

The Morgan Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of England was consecrated on Saturday 18th March 2006, by R. W. Bro. R. G. H. Goddard, the Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire. The Morgan Lodge is a daughter lodge of The Malvern Hills Lodge No. 6896.

The Morgan Lodge meets four times each year, with three meetings held in Malvern and the fourth elsewhere. The Malvern meetings take place on the second Saturday in June and September, and on the third Saturday in March. The fourth meeting takes place on the second Saturday in November. The Ceremony of Installation takes place in March.

The Royds Royal Arch Chapter No. 1204

The Royds Royal Arch Chapter was consecrated on Thursday 8th February 1934, by E. Comp. S. S. Somers, PGH.

The Royds Royal Arch Chapter meets four times each year, on the first Thursday in October, December, February and April. The Ceremony of Installation takes place in April.

The Malvern Priory Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1351

The Malvern Priory Lodge of Mark Master Masons was consecrated on Wednesday 5th March 1969, by R. W. Bro. J. W. Chitty MBE, PGW.

The Malvern Priory Lodge meets four times each year, on the second Wednesday in September, November and May, and on the first Wednesday in March. The Ceremony of Installation takes place in March.
